Big Way Basics

with the Perris Organizers and Christy Frikken

Join the Perris Organizers and Christy Frikken to learn the basics of big ways!

Throughout our years of creating a friendly atmosphere at Skydive Perris, we have noticed a giant gap between fun jumps and world-class big-way events. “Big Way Basics” fills this gap with a low-pressure big way setting. We provide personalized feedback to build on existing skills and learn new ones with positive evaluation and problem-solving feedback.

If we have enough register, our plan for the day includes two plane loads!

This is a welcoming event – if you can safely participate, we want you to join us for a fantastic day of learning. Participants should be able to dock last on an 8way and have good tracking skills. If you aren’t sure, please contact Christy Frikken  (christy@furycoaching.com) or your friendly local Load Organizer.

Plane Loads of Learning

We will cover all the bases from plane loading order, the difference between floaters and divers, how to properly jam up an exit order, exit frame, stadium approach, the “red zone”, and all the safety tips you can imagine.

The stadium; from cheap seats to the mosh pit

The stadium is a concept used to help people visualize approach angles as the way a real stadium’s seating allows everyone to see the stage. You will learn how to apply that concept to flying your body down to the base.

Radial? I barely even know her.

You’ll learn the difference between a quadrant and a radial and how to identify both of yours. Your quadrant is your piece of the pie that you want to take a bite out of. Whereas the radial is a line from the center of the formation, through your slot, and continuing beyond the red zone (the area the camera sees).

Exit, Present, Identify, and approach.

Big way exits are not always the most graceful. You’ll learn the most successful ways to leave the plane, present to the relative wind, identify where the base is, and approach it on your radial.

Do you have your tracking buddy?

Tracking away from large groups takes practice. We will show you how to work with your team to create space and safely deploy!

But wait, there’s more!

You’ll learn all of this and so much more at Big Way Basics. Let us show you in person with the use of diagrams, mock-ups, and more at the next event!

Big Way Basics is also a great opportunity to connect with other skydivers who share the same passion for the sport. The event is designed to be fun and engaging, with experienced coaches who will guide you through building larger formations and teach you the skills to do it safely and successfully. By the end of the day, you’ll have gained valuable experience and confidence in your abilities, allowing you to take on bigger and more challenging jumps in the future. So if you’re looking to take your skydiving skills to the next level and meet other like-minded individuals, Big Way Basics is the perfect event for you. Don’t miss his incredible opportunity to learn and grow as a skydiver!

I've watched Christy develop as a competitor and coach for 17 years and I've seen her do this again and again. There is one risk when working with her. You're going to want more, lots more!
