“I’m taking this course *right now* and I’m starting to see skydiving in a whole new light. Highly engaging. Very informative. Plus… the instructor is pretty good too. If you want to take your abilities as a coach / organizer / mentor up a notch, this might be for you.” – James Lee

“I am currently enrolled in this course. Christy is a world class teacher and mentor. The knowledge I have gained and invaluable tools are helping me become a better load organizer and coach. I highly recommend this course if you want to up your game to improve jump planning, debriefing, and FS knowledge.” – Jim Dinning

“I completed the Performance Coach Course with Christy Frikken in September/November 2022 – and can say with complete confidence that it’s the best course I have ever taken. Not only did it improve my personal flying skills (stripping back all skills to their technical components), but it taught me the language to share those skills with other people. A style of coaching you could use in any discipline (not just flat that it’s geared towards). I came out of the experience with boosted confidence and a renewed passion to support newer skydivers through their learning journey. I would recommend this course to anyone – Christy is such a legend in this sport, and the opportunity to learn from her wealth of knowledge is an out of this world experience. If you’re considering taking this course, consider no longer! GO FOR IT! And I promise that the content will be able to tailored to whatever your goal may be.”

“This course will remind you of the basics of skydiving so that you can coach these solidly, refine your coaching skills and style and build your confidence as a coach. The course provides an opportunity to learn more, develop your personal and coaching skills through practice and personalised feedback, ask gnarly questions and get to know other newer coaches going through a similar stage of learning to coach to yourself. The learning materials are high quality and comprehensive, and Christy is available and responsive as needed, both during and after the course. Doing this course is an extremely valuable experience for anyone with an interest in coaching, new-ish to coaching or even those who have been coaching for a while – it has the flexibility to enable participants to come in at whatever level of coaching skills and experience they’re at and develop further from there.”

“Coach the Coach with Christy Frikken absolutely exceeded my expectations. I had hoped to learn more about how to successfully coach other skydivers, and gain a deeper understanding of that role. I got so much more than that!

I was self-conscious and very unsure of myself when I started this course. I felt I wasn’t qualified to share my knowledge with others. By the end of course those feelings had shifted, and in the short time since I completed Christy’s course I have already run my first event – with more planned! – and been invited to coach in other events.

Through Christy I learned so many important skills, like how to run effective briefs and debriefs, how to structure events and training camps, as well as how to deliver information in an effective, engaging and encouraging manner that fosters real learning and growth.

The course developed not only my skills on the ground, but also in the air – I hadn’t expected the coach course to make me a better flyer, but it definitely and noticeably did! The course helped to hone my technical understanding of every aspect of body flight, as well as start to develop my own coaching style.

The way the course is organised is amazing too. There are extensive resources from a variety of sources that were not only incredibly informative, but enjoyable to engage with. The practical assessments allowed me to work on all of the important skills in a safe and supportive environment, and as a result I became far more comfortable and confident in my abilities.

I also learnt things in this course that have made me a better student and learner, which is a lifelong journey for us all. I have been given a deeper understanding of how to successfully learn and receive coaching, as well as teach and coach others.

The format itself is also very supportive – I’ve made new friends, and grown closer with those who I had already met. I’m stoked to be a part of such an incredible, talented and encouraging group of people.

Christy is spectacular – her expertise and knowledge is vast and extraordinary, and her love and passion for this sport shines through in everything she does. I highly recommend this course for wherever you are in your journey.” – Skye Parson

“Christy’s Coach the Coach course is a wonderful opportunity for anyone new to coaching, or who wants to further develop their coaching or mentoring skills. As anyone who has been coached by her knows, Christy is one of the best skydiving coaches out there, even though we’re in a sport with lots of amazing coaches. So it’s awesome to hear her thoughts on different ways of doing things, learn from her directly in a structured way, and receive personalised feedback on your own coaching of others. Christy’s style is super informative, constructive and encouraging, and she practices what she preaches regarding teaching well to maximise learning. This creates a fantastic atmosphere and structure in which to develop your own coaching skills. The course is very comprehensive and covers essential theoretical knowledge. But it is primarily focussed on applying that theory to how we coach others, making it very practical and engaging. Highly recommended.”

Christy's coaching offers so much more than simply learning the dive pool--to fly well, one needs to engineer appropriately, walk purposefully, clearly understand the formations, recognize the role each flyer plays, and think. But even more to the point, each person coached receives personal attention to develop their skill, celebrating successes and examining weaknesses.
